What is World Suicide Prevention Day?

This Saturday 10 September is World Suicide Prevention Day. The day is aimed at raising awareness around suicide and promoting action to help reduce suicides and suicide attempts. The theme for this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day is ‘creating hope through action’.

“Hope” might not be a word that immediately comes to mind when you think about suicide. But your actions can help people who are struggling. Simply picking up the phone can make a difference to someone in their darkest moments. We can all play a role in supporting people experiencing a suicidal crisis or bereaved by suicide.
