What is Universal Credit and how do I apply for it?

Universal Credit is a payment from the government to help you with your living costs and rent You could be eligible for Universal Credit if you’re of working age and are unable to work, looking for work or have a low income. 

Universal Credit is a single payment that has replaced old legacy benefits, such as Tax Credits, Income Support and Housing Benefit. 

How to apply 

To apply for Universal Credit: 

  • Check if you're eligible or speak to our Tenancy Sustainment Team. They can be contacted via email moneymatters@a2dominion.co.uk or by calling 0800 432 0077 

If you’re awarded Universal Credit, your housing costs will be paid directly to you. It’s important that you contact our income team who can assist you with making rent payments and setting up direct debits

When you start to claim Universal Credit, you'll have to wait 5 weeks for your first payment. If you’re worried about being able to pay your rent during this time, please get in touch. We can help.
