San had been looking for work for a year after being made redundant from a job she’d been in for seven years. Feeling overwhelmed by constant applications, a lack of responses and unsuccessful interviews, she got in touch with our Tenancy Sustainment Team to join our free Pathways Employment Programme.
Our Pathways Programme includes one-on-one support for those who want to kick-start their career or get back into work. We also offer one-to-one mentoring to boost interview skills and provide training and employment opportunities.
San spoke with Geraldine, A2Dominion’s Social Purpose Officer, who took the time to listen and understand what she was finding difficult. Together, they talked through ways to strengthen her job applications and prepare for interviews. Geraldine also recommended updating her CV to better reflect her skills and experience.
To help with this, San was referred to PurpleCV for professional CV support. After receiving her updated CV, she felt more confident and motivated to continue her job search. Within days, she was invited to several interviews and within two weeks, she had been offered a job as an Office Manager.
San is now enjoying her new role and feeling much more confident. She told us:
