Keeping you safe through our gas safety check programme

15 August 2025 - News

Over 200 accidental fires each year in England are caused by faulty gas appliances, according to the latest government figures

That’s why we’re committed to helping you feel safe in your home. We carry out a free gas safety check every 12 months in all the homes we manage.

These checks are carried out by our trusted partners, TSG Building Services and Sureserve Compliance South, who are fully Gas Safe registered.

Gas appliances like boilers, cookers and heaters are essential to everyday life, but if they’re not properly maintained, they can become dangerous. Faulty appliances can lead to gas leaks, fires, explosions or carbon monoxide poisoning.

Tania Emery, A2Dominion’s Building Safety Director, says: “Many of us rely on, and perhaps even take for granted, our gas appliances. However, if you don’t keep boilers, heaters and cookers in good working order you risk gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning.

“We want to work with you to keep you, your family and neighbours safe, so when one of our partners gets in touch to arrange a gas safety check, please respond and let them in for the appointment.

“If you own your own home, it’s important that you only use a registered and qualified Gas Safe engineer to carry out servicing and repairs. Never attempt to work on a gas appliance yourself.”

New gas safety contractors

As part of our ongoing investment in your home, we’re introducing two new gas safety contractors from 18 August 2025.

This means the contact details for reporting gas safety issues have changed.

To report a gas safety issue, please contact:

  • If you smell gas call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999

Gas safety checks in the homes we manage

What we check in the homes we manage:

  • Service boilers to ensure they’re working safely and efficiently

  • Flues to confirm gases are being safely removed

  • Visible gas pipework for signs of leaks or corrosion

  • Ventilation around appliances

  • Carbon monoxide alarms to make sure they’re working properly

If you have installed your own cooker, it is your responsibility to ensure it receives an annual service. However, the Gas Safe engineer will still carry out a visual inspection during their visit.

Gas safety checks in the buildings we manage

What we check in shared spaces:

  • Large boilers and heating systems to make sure they’re working safely

  • Gas pipes for any signs of damage or leaks

  • Flues to make sure gases are safely removed

  • Carbon monoxide alarms (if fitted) to check they work properly

  • Ventilation in plant rooms to prevent gas build-up

  • Emergency gas shut-off valves and safety signs to make sure they’re clear and easy to find

How will I know when my check is due?

If you live in a home we manage, you’ll receive a letter from one of our gas safety partners, TSG Building Services or Sureserve Compliance South when your gas safety check is due. They’ll contact you directly to arrange your appointment.

Please respond promptly and allow access so we can complete the check and keep your home safe.
