Last year we supported 1,281 adults through our safeguarding service, to protect them from harm, abuse and/or neglect.
We’re raising awareness of this important issue, as part of National Adults Safeguarding Week, which takes place from 18 to 22 November.
The campaign is led by the Ann Craft Trust, which is a leading authority in safeguarding, and this year’s theme is ‘working in partnership.’
We’re here to help
As part of our commitment to all our customers we will:
offer you advice and guidance
listen to you and make you aware of all the organisations that can support you to make choices on next steps
work with our partner organisations to keep you safe.
Fiona Meaden, A2Dominion’s Head of Operations, said: "At A2Dominion, we all have a role to play in safeguarding and you can contact any of our team for help.
“We’re delighted to be supporting National Safeguarding Adults Week. It provides an opportunity to share good practice, start conversations and work with our partners, such as the NHS and police, to help keep our customers safe in their community.”
How we supported one of our customers
One of our customers reached out to us as he was struggling with his mental health following the loss of a friend. We spoke to the customer to find out more about how he was feeling and discussed what we could do to support him.
With his permission, we also contacted his local GP and requested a welfare check. As a result of our referral, the GP arranged for the customer to get ongoing support for his mental health.
We continued to keep in touch with our customer, who explained to us he wanted to get back to work, as his mental health was improving, and he felt ready to move forward.
Our dedicated employment team took action and got in touch with the customer to talk through different options. Following the session, they arranged for him to join our Steps2Work programme. This was well received by the customer, who gained more confidence and got the skills he needed to secure a job.
