Leaseholder - Can I add or remove someone from my lease?

1 min read

Yes, you can usually add or remove a person from your lease. For example, if you get married or you split with your partner.

The process depends on whether you're a homeowner or a shared owner.

To add or remove someone from your lease:

  • Ask your solicitors to contact us at leasehold@a2dominion.co.uk, ensuring they include your full name and address.

  • Once we've received our fees, we'll issue you with a notice of transfer.

  • If you are also changing your mortgage, we'll issue a notice of transfer and charge.

  • Our solicitors will supply a transfer of equity if it's required (which is a change in the co-ownership status of a property).

  • You or your solicitor must then send these to the Land Registry.

Check the admin fee for issuing a notice of transfer.
