Could you or someone you know be eligible for Pension Credit?

Services

We’re reminding customers, aged 66 or over, to check if you are eligible for Pension Credit.

Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you’re over State Pension age and on a low income.

On average, this could be an extra £3,900 a year.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) estimates that around 880,000 people who are eligible for Pension Credit do not claim it.

Richard Bampton, Head of Income at A2Dominion, says: “We know that many of our customers will struggle with their heating bills over the winter period. This is why it’s so important for you to come forward and apply for Pension Credit, as you can only claim the Winter Fuel Allowance if you receive Pension Credit.

”Hundreds of our customers could be missing out on this important payment. If you think you could be eligible, don’t forget to apply before the deadline on 21 December.”

How much could I get?

Pension Credit is separate from your State Pension. You can get Pension Credit even if you have other income, savings or own your home.

You might get extra help if you’re a carer, have a disability, or responsible for a child or young person.

You can use the Pension Credit Calculator to find out if you’re eligible and how much you could get.

What else could I get if I claim Pension Credit?

  • If you get Pension Credit you can also get other help, such as:
  • The Winter Fuel Payment to help with heating costs
  • Help with housing costs, ground rent and some service charges
  • Passported claim to Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction
  • Free TV Licence for those over 75 years old
  • Help with NHS dental treatment, glasses and transport costs for hospital appointments, if you get a certain type of Pension Credit.
