We want to reassure our student customers that we’re monitoring the coronavirus (Covid-19) situation closely and will continue to follow the government’s advice.
What is the government’s advice?
The government hasn’t, so far, included student accommodation residents in their commitment to helping people with their rent.
The current advice is that contracts for student accommodation should be honoured, which means your rent should be paid as usual.
What if I have already moved out?
Unfortunately, our student accommodation can only be used by students and the rent charged is for the whole contract period. This means you need to pay your rent even if you decide to leave the property before the end of your contract period.
What if I can’t pay my rent?
We understand that some of our student customers may find it difficult to pay their rent at the moment.
If you’re worried that you won’t be able to make payments as you usually would, you can talk to your property manager and arrange to pay over a longer period.
You can speak to your property manager by email:
- For Oxford accommodation, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
- For Bristol accommodation, email email@example.com.
We’re aware of a petition about rent payments at our Bristol accommodation and planned ‘rent strikes’ by some members of the student community.
Our rent policy is set in line with government-issued guidelines, from both the Department for Education (DfE) and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
We understand our student customers are concerned about coronavirus and the uncertainty around the pandemic, so we’re making sure we continue to follow all changes in any government guidance.
We’ll update you straight away about our student accommodation rent policy if anything changes.
