We have received several queries from our student customers about rent payments during the coronavirus pandemic. So, we’ve worked hard with our partner universities to find a solution that works for you, our student customers.

Student accommodation rent policy

We understand that the coronavirus pandemic has brought unexpected challenges to the lives of all our student customers, whether you’re based in Bristol or Oxford.

If you’ve returned home to continue your studies, you’ll be able to end your rental contract with us early.

We understand some students may choose to stay in their accommodation – that’s fine too.

What happens next?

You’ll be able to choose to either end your rental contract early or stay in your current accommodation for the remainder of your contract.

If you’re a student customer, we will have contacted you directly to explain what you need to do and by what time.

Get in touch with us as soon as you’ve made your decision. If you do not contact us by the emailed deadline then you won’t be able to end your contract early.

Why is there a deadline?

During this difficult time, we’re hoping to offer vacant accommodation to vulnerable people and key workers.

To do this, we’ll need to offer all our vacant accommodation at once, which is why we need to know whether you’re staying with us by a certain time.

If you’re ending your contract

If you’re ending your contract, please make sure you clear your room of rubbish and all your belongings – there’s no need for you to clean it though.

We won’t keep any of your deposit for cleaning. We will charge you for any damage, but we’ll contact you first.

We understand it may be difficult to return keys and clear your accommodation at the moment, due to coronavirus and the need to social distance.

Staying in your accommodation

If you choose to stay in your accommodation, you’ll keep paying your rent as normal, even if you decide to move out of your room before the end of the academic year.
